A while ago I posted my drawings for a children’s boutique that was, at the time, opening in Herne Bay. It’s been about two years since Peppin boutique opened and owner Kathleen Waite asked me to contribute another drawing for the windows of her lovely shop. The brief was very similar to the one when I completed the first window drawing; referencing children’s illustrations and old schoolbooks, keeping with the overall themes and concepts that Kathleen incorporates into her designs.
Kathleen and I decided that this window should have a forest setting, since that would be a contrast to the first window drawing, which had was more summery, with a p-class sailing boat occupying a central part of the drawing. Owls and bunting was an idea that I had already utilised in some drawings for a fabric design, and it seemed a natural choice to reference this in the drawing for the window.
After some editing the concept drawings (which are located at the beginning of this post), I started work on the final drawing in the window. Below are some photos of the final result.
